Kenya | 14 Days Winding Trails Safari

Join us in this magnificent fourteen Days passage through fabled Kenya lands. You will delight in the contrasting scenery, spectacular wildlife and the civilized charms of this great land. From the astonishing biodiversity of the African savanna, the coastal lands to the proud native people living in harmony with wildlife. Day 1 : Nairobi

A uniformed Travels representative meets you on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transports you to the Gracia gardens guest house set in a quiet leafy environment, where your room awaits you. For the rest of the day depending on your arrival time, you may relax and catch up with the time zone or opt to visit the David Sheldrick Trust elephant orphanage for a unique chance to interact up-close with orphaned baby elephants as they prepare to get back to the wild or better still the Giraffe centre for a chance to hand feed the giraffes. Days 2 and 3 : Maasai Mara Game Reserve

After a sumptuous breakfast, transfer to the Wilson aerodrome for your 10AM one hour flight to the Maasai Mara. This is where you can see elephant, buffalo, lion, cheetah, leopard, zebra, giraffe, hippo, crocodile and a whole ark-full of other animals. For 45 minutes, wing your way west over the dramatic Great Rift Valley and enjoy a stunning view of the undulating plains of the Mara from the comfort of your aircraft seat. You'll spend two nights at Mara Sopa, with the night sounds of the game and the fresh scent of the earth, grass, and bush around you. The ritual becomes addictive: early morning game drives to watch the waking plains, then back to the lodge for lunch followed by a siesta or some time off to update your journal. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Naivasha

At the crack of dawn, you may take to the skies, if you choose, in a hot air balloon for a spectacular "hawk's eye view" of the game-studded plains, providing a memorable experience of the fabled Mara. After a sumptuous breakfast, a four-hour drive gets us to us to Lake Naivasha checking in for lunch at the Lake Naivasha country club set on lush tropical gardens on the shores of fresh water lake Naivasha. Afternoon at leisure to relax and enjoy the serenity of this resort or better still, we undertake an evening boat ride in Lake Naivasha to see the hippos and many colorful birds. Day 5: Hell?s Gate National Park

A full day in Naivasha. We have the option of doing a cycling/trekking safari in the nearby Hell?s gate national park. This is best done during morning hours as it can get quite hot in the afternoon. Afternoon spent at the hotel swimming and relaxing. We could also arrange a visit one of the flower farms to get an insight into the vast horticultural industry that is the lifeline of Naivasha. The beautiful roses and carnations produced in this area are shipped to Europe every day. (B, L, D)

Days 6 and 7: Amboseli National Park

We start our day with a hearty breakfast. At 8AM, we drive Southwards to the world?s renowned Amboseli National Park, nestled on the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro on the southern border of Kenya and Tanzania. We arrive at the Kibo safari camp in time for lunch. For the next two days, we?ll have an in-depth exploration of the Amboseli in the company of our crew who will delightfully share with us the intrigues of the Amboseli. During our morning and evening game drives expect to see huge herds of elephants wallowing in the swamp, giraffes, buffaloes, lions among others against the spectacular backdrop of the snow capped roof of Africa; Mt. Kilimanjaro. We enjoy an excellent cuisine and overnight at the Kibo safari camp (B, L, D)

Day 8: Tsavo East National Park

Today after breakfast (10AM), we say kwaheri (farewell) to our hosts and the Amboseli and drive Man Eaters camp set along the Tsavo river. Tsavo is famous for the large herds of elephants and man-eating, mane less lions as featured in the award winning movie, ?The Ghost and the Darkness?. Lunch at the camp and an afternoon at leisure, relax, have a refreshing beer or cool off the mid day sun in the pool. Overnight Man- Eaters camp (B, L, D)

Day 9: Tsavo East and Kasigau Ranch

Breakfast then game viewing in the Tsavo visiting this pristine wilderness in search of the beasts; elephants, buffaloes, lions, zebras, giraffes, gazelles, gerenuk and a wide variety of brightly painted birds against a scenic backdrop of the shapely Taita hills and the Nyika plateau. Lunch at the Voi safari lodge and an afternoon drive to Kasigau ranch on the Southern tip of Tsavo West National park. Kasigau Ranch hosts a wide variety of wild plants and animals. Plant life includes Acacia woodlands and open bush grasslands. Animals commonly sighted include the African elephant, Maasai giraffe, lesser kudu, spotted hyena, Burchells zebra, and impala. Birdlife is spectacular with over 250species recorded, three of them being endemic to the Kasigau area. Check in at Kiwanjani eco lodge overlooking a waterhole where the beasts gather for a drink.. Day 10: Mount Kasigau

It?s a day to stretch our muscles and check if we are athletic. We undertake a full day hike up Mt. Kasigau (5,000ft) in the company of the local guides. Mt. Kasigau is home to a great bio diversity including some endangered bird species such as the Taita thrush and the Taita White eye. A picturesque view from the peak of the mountain of the Kasigau region and beyond is quite rewarding. Overnight Kiwanjani eco lodge (B,L,D)

Days 11,12 and 13:Diani beach

Wake up to the symphony of natural bird life as the bush comes alive. After breakfast, we drive further south to the coastal town of Mombasa. Capping off a week of breath-taking safari, we take the ferry from the Island of Mombasa to the mainland south and onto the Indian ocean beach club, our spot for the next three days. After all the bush and game, you ought to slow down, shake off the safari dust and just relax. You may swim in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, bask on the white sandy beach, jet ski, scuba dive and windsurf. Overnight Indian ocean beach club. (B, L or D)

Day 14: Departure Day

Greet your last day in Diani with a hearty breakfast followed by any last minute shopping or beach combing. Afternoon transfer to the airstrip for your 4PM flight to Nairobi where you may spend the afternoon shopping at Utamaduni Crafts Centre. A farewell dinner then it?s time to catch your departing international flight marking the end of a memorable safari. (B)
